Updates and Giveaway!

Well hey everyone and happy holidays! I figured since it’s been a little quiet around here I should be forthcoming and let you know why, AND to sweeten your holiday offer an AWESOME giveaway.

But first lets get the updates for Eat Your Tarte Out done. Lately I haven’t felt inspired by food and haven’t spent much time in the kitchen at all which is VERY frustrating and maddening for a food blogger such as myself. You may ask, “is she sick, is she dying?” It’s none of that, simply that I knew something was amiss when I started to lose my appetite. Instead of it being a curse, it’s actually a wonderful blessing. Greg and I are expecting our first child this June! So with raging hormones comes lack of energy and a major change in appetite. It’s not that I don’t want to blog, but simply that I’m spending no time in the kitchen. When I do get inspired, it’s usually for a last minute run to the grocery store and by the time I get home, I’ve lost it all. I’m NOT trying to make excuses, simply to say food and me are having a slight misunderstanding right now. The good news is that my appetite, strength, and energy are all starting to come back, so expect things to get back to normal (whatever normal is around here) with the start of 2015. And while I haven’t been in the kitchen, I have been pouring over all your suggestions to make 2015 that much better and have so many wonderful ideas to incorporate this upcoming year. So please bear with me and I promise it’ll all be worth it! I thank each and every one of you for your continued support as always and love you all for it!

And now for this awesome giveaway…I have to thank our sponsors for this first and foremost. If you haven’t checked them out, you totally should! This giveaway is being sponsored by Culture magazine and Bel Gioioso. Culture magazine is a publication highlighting the world of cheese from farmers and producers, all the way through new concepts and changes in the industry. It’s a beautifully delicious magazine and website. And then we have Bel Gioioso which was started by Errico Auricchio and makes authentic Italian-style cheeses in Wisconsin. Their award-winning cheeses include American Grana, Mascarpone, and CreamyGorg among many others.

Last month it all started when Culture magazine provided me with an opportunity to design a recipe for them (specifically a main course) using Bel Gioioso cheeses. As you all know, I don’t do a ton of main courses (which I need to), so this stretched my muscles a bit and I had fun doing so. What I came up with was a Puff Pastry-Wrapped Creamy Gorgonzola Chicken (also great with Asiago). Do check it out as it’s the perfect for the holiday dinner party season!

Great recipe Kat! One of our little chefs want to try it for a special meal. So excited about your baby! Congrats! Tough choice on cheese but Creamy Gorg – blue cheese wins the favorite slot because it’s so dramatic and versitile. We love blue cheese, carmelized onions, and fresh spinach flatbreads. Italico peaked our curiousity most.

I am currently very obsessed with goat cheese. But I can’t wait to try the BelGioioso CreamyGorg. It sounds scrumptious!

I am not sure I can pick a favorite cheese as cheese is my favorite food. But from the list above I will pick gorganzola and I would love to try the sharp provolone. The chicken recipe looks fabulous!

Congratulations, Kat! I love Provolone cheese, it’s one of my favorites. I would love to try the Italico cheese. Being 100% Italian, I love all of these authentic Italian cheeses.
