According to the USDA, the word “natural” means only that a product was “minimally processed” and “contains no artificial ingredients.” Because of this very loose terminology, products containing something like high fructose corn syrup can be considered natural as it’s derived from corn. What’s a person to do when trying to shop responsibly? At least there’s a handy list to help us shop for processed meat products from companies who support happy healthy animals the natural way we would envision.
